Surds are unable to even perceive aurea, Surds can never use magic and typically lead dull and mundane lives, disconnected from modern advances in both society and technology.
Surds don't qualify for a Mage's license. However, if necessary, they can receive a No Grade License — a certificate indicating their Surd status officially.

Named for the weak Secuvean magic which they are capable of using, Seckers are the most common mages in Clear. A B Grade Mage's License will grant access to most activities and technologies of the modern age.

Viars are the main drivers of society in Clear, found at the forefront of magical and technological activities all throughout the Petal Plume. An A Grade Mage's License, also known as a Viar's License, facilitates access to more opportunities than nearly any other document or marker of status in the galaxy.

Transcendents are Viars who have broken the bounds of what is naturally possible, exceeding the physical limits of their body in its ability to control magic. Transcendents blur the line between physical and spiritual and are able to accomplish great feats which can direct the destiny of entire civilizations. An S Grade Mage's License serves both as an honor to the holder and as an admonition to anyone in their presence. Note: Some perks require NDA

Existing more as an aspect of the natural world than as a person, Exscendents are worshipped by millions as deities and are able to use their near limitless influence of magic to support those who need it most, no matter where or how numerous they are. Exscendents have no use for a Mage's License, and most arose even before licenses existed at all. However, each known Exscendent is still registered as X Grade and monitored, when possible, by modern governments.
